SUMMER CAMP WEEK-LONGS
Come join us for our fun week-long design camps ranging from jewelry-making to garment repurposing and shoe painting and simple mask making, students will enjoy a week of self-expression in their own functional design realm, that will make them the talk of the town. (Most materials included)
JEWELRY / SCARF / SHOE CAMP
JUNE 15-19 1-4pm $200
In this DESIGN I Camp workshop students will explore 3 components of design-
DAY 1 &2- The elements of jewelry design- creating a group of coordinated pieces that can be worn together.
DAY 3 - Students will include a second element which will be a hand dyed silk scarf or wrap designed to relate to their individual style to accompany their jewelry.
DAY 4 &5- On the final two days students will engage in a colorful and fun transformation of a basic white shoe of the students choosing into a dynamic and interesting personal expression of artistic footwear using paint and mixed media.
FASHION FUN JACKET BASH CAMP WEEK
JUNE 29-JULY 3 1-4 PM $200
Design a personalized mixed media repurposed jacket for yourself using unique approaches in painting, dyeing, patches, stitching, found objects, bling and more!.
DAY 1- Group visit to secondhand store, using workshop budget of $15 each, pick jacket like item of choice. Design drawings and sketches, ideas and approaches to make the jacket design “YOURS”
DAY 2-3- Mark up design on Jacket, begin painting and dyeing. Back patterns, sleeves and collar details highlighted.
DAY 4 - Placement of Stitching, patches and embellishment additions for post painting. Apply.
DAY 5- Final completion of details and additions including button considerations
Weird MASK and HEADGEAR FUN
JULY 13- 17 1-4pm $200
As Fall conventions draw near, welcome to the wacky world of costuming with simple mask making and headdress designs in this introductory week-long workshop. We will utilize a basic non-prescription eyeglass frame to build character facial features upon that can be simply put on comfortably with accompanying headgear elements that can range anywhere from animal ears to fantasy elements.
DAY 1- Using workshop armature glasses students will begin to design character features using templates for Worbla, mattress foam and alternative support materials.
DAY 2-3- Work with soft foams, thermal plastics and mixed media to develop facial features and address structures. Think about final covering materials, colors etc
DAY 4 -Begin final surface approaches. Fabric? Plastics? Fur? or…?
DAY 5- Final completion of details and presentation.
